Ah your right.  Jogged my memory.  I forgot me 1994 stuff and only
remembered the 1980 stuff !  I was thinking Gopher and Wais, before Tim
Berners-Lee dropped upon us (server admins in the '80s) the "scheme" brit
word into the URL spec http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1630 for some reason
he just really liked that term...lol.

1980 being when we said "protocol" because that's what we really were using
and doing with pre-Internet services.

Thanks for reminding me of my forgotten history.
