[Developers] sandbox writes

It's been a few weeks since I was regularly loading thousands of topics onto
sandbox.  When I now try a simple test write to create a dummy topic, I get
the following error coming back...
"Can only use authenticated services at sandbox-freebase.com:80, not
sandbox-freebase.com"
Has something changed?  Isn't 80 the default in any post/get anyway? (I'm
using apache's commons-httpclient). Or am I doing something stupid that I'm
too tired to spot...?
