Nice site! My understanding is that ITIS numbers have already been imported to Freebase for matching Wikipedia articles and all ITIS numbers could be imported. ITIS number is a property of the "Organism classification" type: http://www.freebase.com/type/schema/biology/organism_classification

You might also like my focal taxa type: http://litcentral.freebase.com/view/base/litcentral/views/focal_taxa

-Ed

Speaking of animals, I've got my own little site at

http://animalphotos.info/a/

I've done about 50% of the site using semweb techniques, so I've
got a mapping between ITIS numbers and wikipedia articles -- and that
mapping is going to get better as I do more loads.

Is there any way I could do a bulk load of ITIS numbers to freebase?
