How about adding the Time span properties of Start and End date so that any currency can be tagged with it's historical period? Ideally this date feature would be linked to country. For example, several countries use the US$ but over different time spans than the US. The other currency properties of exchange rate, currency code, etc. are all the same.
Klaus (/user/kseistrup on Freebase) caught an interesting condition: the
mention of the Zambian pound as a currency of Zambia, which hasn't been
true for some time.

I would propose two new properties:

Country should have a "Historical currency" property which expects Currency.

Currency should have a "Countries formerly used" property which is its
reciprocal.

This would allow obsolete currency, like the Zambian pound and the
Confederate dollar, to be modeled, and formerly widespread currency like
the British pound to be modeled both as current currency and historical
currency.

Thoughts?
