A couple of months ago we discussed here a model for brands and
product lines which would allow you to connect the iPhone with Apple
(previously not possible with the schema we had). I put a model up on
sandbox for review and people seemed reasonably happy with it, then we
forgot about it for a bit.

This has now been implemented on Freebase.com and you can find the
relevant types in /business.

I'm preparing a blog post on them to show some interesting uses, but
for the meantime, take a look at http://www.freebase.com/view/en/coca-cola
for an example of a brand, http://www.freebase.com/view/en/procter_gamble
for an example of a company with many brands, and http://www.freebase.com/view/en/apple_inc
for an example of a company with many product lines.

K.
