You may already be aware of the schema in http://digitalcameras.freebase.com/, in particular /digitalcameras/digital_camera.

I created this schema and related types in order to load information on a few hundred digital cameras, ranging from the compact types to SLRs. The /digitalcameras/digital_camera schema is a bit of a hybrid of /digicams/digital_camera and /base/filmcameras/camera, in order to accommodate information on digital SLR cameras.

I suspect that the /digitalcameras/digital_camera schema will capture most or all of what one needs for film cameras.

converge converge!

i see your point with the different types of camera. i wouldn't cotype
them all either. you can do a 'type of camera', which could be
helpful, - its not a big deal when properties dont apply everytime i
think. and you sound like you know what you're talking about.
this move is definetly worth it. there are like 10 common properties
between these two types.

Manufacturer
Optical Zoom
Released (which maybe should be in /business/consumer_product anyways)
Street price (and im not sure what this means, but i think it means
MSRP, which is in consumer product already)
Accessories
Autofocus
Camera Series
Min Shutter Speed
Max Shutter Speed

then reciprocate /base/newsevents/photograph ! woohoo
