With respect to Scott, he is hip-deep in the innards of the data, and
the Right Thing is clearly to fix the data model; however, the Web
client, MQL, and all the other ways for actually interacting with the
data do not deal well with proper normalization.  For that reason, I
strongly recommend (regretfully) redundant data entry for now.  If and
when userbots are encouraged, you could write something to ensure
consistency of the redundant data; and until then, you could submit a
ticket in Jira asking the data team to add something to its Kwality process.
