Andrew Johnson was not a republican when he ran with Abraham Lincoln
for the 1864 election. Bob Barr is a former? Republican running as a
Libertarian. Strom Thurman ran as a Dixiecrat while serving as a
Democrat in office.
Party affiliation as campaign property, yes.
