I agree that the topic name is awkward.  I think we can fix that.

Are you suggesting that the sporting event be a CVT of games and  
sport? That would work.  I just want there to be an object for the  
actual event, race run, etc.

In skud's type things are tied together under medals awarded, but the  
actual contest is not modeled as far as i can see.  I think that there  
is a lot to say about the specific event such as when it was run.   
Here is a good example.

Apart from remembering some of these events as being significant, in  
the general case historic events are by and large topics, just like  
people and places.
