[Data-modeling] products

I hate to ask this, but did we ever figure out a generic type for "product"?  Something that could encompass everything from iPhones to Viagra?

Is it possible/useful/a good idea to just make a "bucket" type (thanks Jeff P, I'm going to use that term at least 100 more times today) for other kinds of products to inherit from, and then if we see any commonalities we can promote them into that parent type?
